IT Specialist Group (Independent Validation Function)

 

About the opportunity

NLB Group is looking for an IT professional to join the Group Independent Validation Function, an independent second-line function supporting compliance with BCBS 239 principles.

The role offers Group-wide exposure to data architecture, systems, data flows, controls, and reporting processes across different entities and functions. It is suited to someone who enjoys understanding how complex data environments work, identifying weaknesses, and forming an independent view based on evidence.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Assess data architecture, IT infrastructure, system dependencies, and data flows supporting risk and regulatory reporting
  • Review end-to-end data lineage and traceability of critical data
  • Evaluate technical data quality controls, reconciliations, interfaces, and exception-handling processes
  • Identify control weaknesses, manual workarounds, and areas of operational or technology risk
  • Perform independent testing of data transformations, system outputs, and reporting processes
  • Prepare clear findings, conclusions, and recommendations
  • Follow up on remediation activities and assess whether identified issues have been addressed effectively
  • Cooperate with colleagues across IT, Risk, Finance, Data Governance, Compliance, and Internal Audit

 

Candidate profile

  • University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Data architecture or data engineering
    • Databases, SQL, and data analysis
    • Data governance or data quality
    • IT risk, IT audit, or systems assurance
    • Business intelligence or regulatory reporting
  • Good understanding of data flows, interfaces, ETL processes, system dependencies, and technical controls
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical matters clearly to both technical and business stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and form an objective, evidence-based view
  • Excellent written and spoken English

 

Considered an advantage

  • Experience in banking or financial services
  • Knowledge of BCBS 239 or other Basel regulatory frameworks
  • Experience with data lineage, metadata management, or critical data elements
  • Experience in second-line assurance, internal audit, or independent validation
  • Familiarity with data warehouses, reporting platforms, or modern data environments
